The College & Career Counseling Center @ Wellspring Saigon

Mr. Thomas Vuong

Wellspring Saigon is proud to announce the establishment of its new College & Career Counseling Center (CCCC) to further serve the growing needs of its students. The purpose of the CCCC is to develop student readiness. Readiness, in the context of the school counseling domain of college & career preparation, is students:

  • knowing what they should know,
  • understanding what they should understand, and
  • being able to do what they should be able to do

The college & career counseling curriculum helps students to answer three very important questions as they are preparing for their post-secondary future:

  • Who am I?
  • Where am I going?
  • How do I get there?

As students become progressively engaged in the program, three related but more concrete and practical questions that they will be able to find answers to are:

  • What are my options?
  • What are the requirements of these options?
  • How can I meet these requirements?

The approach utilized by the program includes group and individual counseling and planning meetings. Counseling meetings are where students discover the information and resources they need and where students learn to use the tools that are necessary to create and develop college & career plans. These plans will be designed and implemented by the students themselves, and thereby, they will be prepared for their post-secondary educational goals as well as the next step in career exploration and planning that occurs during university.

Depending on the grade level of the student, he/she will have scheduled meetings with the college & career counselor in a group setting, an individual setting, or both. In addition, students will always be able to request meetings with the counselor for further support as needed. Counseling meetings will take on a variety of formats: information sessions, seminars, workshops, planning lessons, planning activities, and one-on-one discussions.
